Clarke Atkins, DVM, the Jane Lewis Seaks Distinguished Professor of Companion Animal Medicine (Emeritus) at North Carolina State University
and 2004 Norden Outstanding Teacher Award Winner, is board-certified by the American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine (Medicine & Cardiology). Dr. Atkins has served on U.S. and International Consensus Statement Guidelines for diagnosis and management of mitral valve disease, systemic hypertension, and cardiorenal syndrome.

His research involves treatment of cardiovascular diseases in dogs, cats and horses and canine and feline heartworm disease.

He has over 150 publications and has provided well over 1000 hours of continuing education in the U.S. and many countries around the world. Dr. Atkins continues to be active speaking and carrying out clinicallyoriented research in retirement.
