Jonathan Elliott graduated from Cambridge Veterinary School in 1985. After a year as an Intern at the University of Pennsylvania, he undertook a
PhD in vascular pharmacology in Cambridge. In 1990 he was appointed to a lectureship in Veterinary Pharmacology at the Royal Veterinary College and developed research interests in feline kidney disease and hypertension, canine mitral valve disease and equine laminitis.

He was awarded the Pfizer Academic Award in 1998 and the BSAVA Amoroso Award in 2001, the Petplan Scientific Award in 2005 and the ESVNU Award in 2007 for contributions to companion animal medicine.
He was a member of the ACVIM Consensus Statement Panels on Proteinuria and Hypertension and chaired the International Renal Interest Society from 2002 to 2004.

Jonathan is a Diplomate of the European College of Pharmacology and Toxicology. He is a past member of the UK Government’s Veterinary Products Committee. He is currently Professor in Veterinary Clinical Pharmacology and Vice Principal for Research and Innovation at the RVC.
